I Tried the Abbey Yung Hair Method — Here’s What Actually Happened

I kept seeing the Abbey Yung hair method everywhere, and as someone who lives in the beauty world, I had to know… is this another viral routine, or does it actually work?

After trying it myself, here’s my honest take:

It works. My blowout lasted longer, my hair felt incredible, and the shine was next level. But, and this is important — it takes time. This is not a “15 minutes before school drop-off” routine. Whether the results are worth the effort and number of products? That’s up to you.

Here's a full list of the products - And here's exactly what I did...

What Makes This Method Different

My normal routine is pretty basic:

Shampoo → conditioner → a couple products → heat → done.

This method is more layered and intentional. It’s about:

✔️ Pre-treating the hair

✔️ Lightweight layering instead of heavy buildup

✔️ Protecting before styling

✔️ Setting your hair up to hold a style for DAYS

It’s not one miracle product — it’s a system.

Step-by-Step: How I Did the Abbey Young Hair Method:

STEP 1: Pre-Shower Treatment

Before I even got in the shower, I applied and let these sit for 15–20 minutes:

My hair already felt softer going into the shower.

STEP 2: Cleanse + Gloss in the Shower

First, I clarified:

Then for shine and smoothness:

For repair:

For that glossy finish:

My hair felt clean but not stripped — and already smoother.

STEP 3: Leave-In on Damp Hair

Right out of the shower, on damp hair:

or

This step helps strengthen and prep the hair before heat.

STEP 4: Treat the Ends

I focused on my ends with:

This made my ends look smoother and healthier.

STEP 5: Detangle + Heat Protect

Layering lightweight protection is big in this method:

Hair felt soft, not heavy.

STEP 6: Microfiber Towel Time (Don’t Skip This)

Instead of a regular towel, I always use a micro fiber towel. I let my hair sit wrapped so it’s damp, not dripping before styling.

Why this matters:

  • Less frizz

  • Less breakage

  • Better product absorption

  • Smoother blowout results

This step honestly makes a difference.

STEP 7: Add Shine + Smoothness

Before blow drying:

or

This boosted shine and helped the blowout look polished.

STEP 8: Blow Dry with Intention

A few blow-dry habits made a big difference for me. I don’t start drying my hair soaking wet — I let it sit in my Aquis microfiber towel first so it’s damp, which helps cut frizz and speeds things up. I also section my hair (even though it’s annoying) because it gives me way more control and smoother results. Focusing on lifting the roots first helps the blowout last longer, and using tension with a brush — not just blasting heat — makes the hair look shinier and more polished. I make sure my hair is completely dry before I stop, then finish with a cool shot to help set the style and boost shine.

My honest results:

✔️ Blowout lasted longer

✔️ Hair felt AMAZING

✔️ Shine was unreal

✔️ Looked salon-level

But again… this took time. Is It Worth It?

This routine is perfect when you want your style to last for days and actually hold its shape instead of falling flat by tomorrow. It’s also great before an event or any time you really want that polished, salon-level finish. The key is having the time to do the full routine — this isn’t a rushed morning method, but when you can commit to the steps, the results really show.

So what do you think? Will you be incorporating this into your weekly routine?

Until next time!
